For God knows it is good to give.
We may not have so long to live.
So if we can.
Let's do each day a kindly deed.
And stretch a hand to those in need.
Bird, beast or man.

Survival

Things in our lives don't always go as planned. Yet when life challenges us we seem to hide hoping it will all go away. I once read this quote somewhere. "We shall not fear but fear itself." So is this to say that we fear the unknown. Because our plan has been broken and not on track, it becomes a bit scary. When life's challenges arise we must face them head on. Show them no mercy and then move on and just remember just because your plan changes dosen't mean that your life's plan ever did. Have faith and in faith it will be.

Life can put forth challenges of the heart, mind, body and soul. Those challenges are what make us human. Those challenges are what bends our destiny. To ones destiny is it's own. The choices that we make are actually our fait. Decisions that we think we have, should have or did make are actually part of a plan and or pre determined destiny.

Lately, I have had the overwhelming feeling that all I do is fight what seem like losing and endless battles. Then I stop to think about why……for whom……the desired outcomes……and especially the consequences of not fighting……and I remember that the rewards and outcomes will all make it worth the battle scars in the long-run. As is my nature, I search for quotes to give me comfort and courage, and it always makes me feel better when I find just the right inspiration to keep me going. Here are some that are especially meaningful and inspirational to me right now.

We turn to God for help when our foundations are shaking, only to learn that it is God who is shaking them. --Charles C. West

If you're going through hell, keep going. --Winston Churchill

The difficulties of life are intended to make us better, not bitter. --Author Unknown

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. --Steven Kloves

God brings men into deep waters, not to drown them, but to cleanse them. --John Aughey

……and so onward I go, battle gear clutched closely

MOTHER’S DAY TRIBUTE to My Dear Mother, taken from us on 8/27/06:

“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.” --Anonymous

“You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.” --Anonymous

WHAT I LEARNED THIS WEEK: This week has really been an exercise in frustration. There are so many things undone that I can do nothing about. There are people in places who I cannot reach. Time is not my friend either, for while doing the few pleasant and desirable things which I need and enjoy, those minutes whiz by and are forever gone. Yet time is at a standstill as I wait for unpleasant things to be over and for things and events which I want SO passionately to happen, to FINALLY be able to happen. This all creates a great deal of stress which is hard to control.

The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins. ~Bob Moawad

Thursdays Caption Time What have you learned this week? I learned that the city as a ton of plumbing regulations and that if you are going to DIY it is best to know some one whom can give you great advice. Hence I will never do any major plumbing repairs on my on again. It is easier just to pay some one to do it and get it done in 24hrs than to drag it out over several days.

Folks, it appears ok to have salt with that margarita & eat those salty Lays Chips -- read what I learned this week: SALT DEFICIENCY: The Cause of Many Serious Diseases -- An 8-year study of a NYC hypertensive group focusing on sodium intake levels found those on low-salt diets had more than four times as many heart attacks as those on normal-sodium diets. "It has tended to be forgotten that some salt intake is absolutely necessary; that people need salt to survive. The chemical requirements of the human body demand that the salt concentration in the blood be kept constant. If the body does not get enough salt, a hormonal mechanism compensates by reducing the excretion of salt in the urine and sweat. But it cannot reduce this output to zero. On a completely salt-free diet the body steadily loses small amounts of salt via the kidneys and sweat glands. It then attempts to adjust this by accelerating its secretion of water, so that the blood's salt concentration can be maintained at the vital level. The result is a gradual drying out of the body and finally death. Salt is a vital substance for the survival of all living creatures, particularly humans. Water and salt regulate the water content of the body. The human being must have salt, he cannot be without salt. Where there is no salt, nothing will remain, but everything will tend to rot." SO GO FOR IT! WHO WANTS TO ROT??!!

If you're alone, I'll be your shadow. If you want to cry, I'll be your shoulder. If you want a hug, I'll be your pillow. If you need to be happy, I'll be your smile. But anytime you need a friend, I'll just be me. --Author Unknown
